Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha Holds Key Talks with ITAK MP Shritharan

A special meeting between Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, and Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) Member of Parliament, Sivagnanam Shritharan, took place on Tuesday (19) at the Indian High Commission in Colombo.

MP Sivagnanam Shritharan attended the meeting following an official invitation extended by the Indian High Commission.

During the discussion, detailed views were exchanged regarding the current political situation and key issues faced by the Tamil people.

The talks covered the urgent need to conduct the long-delayed Provincial Council elections to ensure political devolution. Additionally, key matters concerning the economic development of the Northern and Eastern provinces, livelihood enhancement infrastructure projects, and broader regional development initiatives were discussed.

The meeting also featured constructive dialogues on the current status of the Kankesanthurai (KKS) Port project—a major commercial and transit hub in the northern region—and plans to expand it further to strengthen regional connectivity.
